Swimming Pool Builder Reviews

April 9th, 2015 | Posted by Matt Spencer in - Buyer's Guides | Inground Pool Kits

If you are considering installing an inground pool, or any major purchase – these days it makes sense to check out online reviews. Every pool builder that has been around for longer than 6 months is going to have a few online ratings or reviews, and probably a few other conversations occurring online.

Smart shoppers everywhere agree, it pays to do some due diligence with the companies you hire around the home. And for an inground pool project it’s even more important; a few mistakes here or missed steps there, and you can have a prolonged build or problems down the road.

How to Find Pool Builder Reviews and Discussions Online

It’s easy, you just search on Google, with the location + key phrase. For example, “pool builder reviews, city, state” or “city, state pool installer ratings” or “best pool builder in city, state” or “worst pool company in city, state”.

You can also get more specific and search by company name + key phrase, like “abc pool builders reviews, city, state” or simply “abc pool company”. As you type the name, look at the Search Suggestions as you type, you may see “abc company complaints” or “abc company lawsuit”. For established companies, you may find Yelp reviews, Google reviews, Angie’s List or BBB listings. If you find nothing, it’s likely that they are a very new or very small pool builder.

Want to get even more granular? How about “Company Owner Name + key phrase”, or even employees, like “Matt Spencer, Specialty Pool Products”. You’d see my facebook page, maybe Twitter, Google+, Linked-in or other social media accounts. You can also pull up company mentions that others have posted on their website, or social pages, or in online forums.

And if you are searching on Google; don’t forget to switch tabs from Web – to News, Images and Videos. And, look on the right side column of a Google search results page, and below the map, it shows Reviews, and below that it lists More Reviews – and  if they exist, you may see links to kudzu.com, merchantcircle.com,  Judysbook.com, superpages.com, reviewof.net, homeadvisor.com, yahoo.com, insiderpages.com, switchboard.com – etcetera…

Pretty Sneaky, huh?

Examples of Online Pool Builder Reviews

suggestion boxI hate to resort to this, but there are quite a number of horror stories out there about pool companies. Why so many? Considering the process of building a pool, and there are many opportunities to let your customer down. However, there are many excellent pool building companies out there, too – but you still need to be certain. I believe that, once you do some research about the local pool companies in your area – you’ll be sufficiently scared into building your own pool!
