Well, it’s been a fun winter, not too cold in most parts, but cold enough to set up your backyard ice rink kit for a few months. When the daytime temperatures reach the 50′s and the nightime temps are above freezing, it’s time to start thinking about packing away our home hockey rink for the warm months. Backyard ice rinks are not only great exercise, but also come complete with a lot of Free Games to play all winter long. Ice rink games really bring together the neighborhood for impromptu, cocoa or cider get-togethers around the ice rink. Whether you love it or dread it, just about everyone has an opinion on “winter”. I’m convinced that a lot of our feelings about the season are formed during childhood. For me, growing up on a small lake meant winters filled with ice skating (& hot cocoa!). And while there are lots of lakes, ponds & public skating facilities, there’s nothing like having your own backyard ice rink – it’s the winter equivalent of having a pool in your yard! (more…)
Pool Experts, yes we are – but we also enjoy a brisk game of backyard ice hockey with the neighborhood. Backyard Ice Rinks are an important gathering place for otherwise snowbound Northerners during winter. They can really bring a community together, and more than one NHL hockey player got their start on a backyard home ice skating rink. (more…)
